28th Anniversary Celebration: Donation of 280 Boxes to Underprivileged Local Communities
Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) attracted attention by engaging in the volunteer activity of 'Making Kimchi for a Warm Winter' to celebrate its 28th anniversary.
On the 10th, Gwangju Shinsegae announced on the 12th that about 30 executives and employees participated in the kimchi-making volunteer activity held at Gwangju Kimchi Town.
The event took place at Gwangju Kimchi Town, where a Gwangju kimchi master served as a professional instructor, providing theoretical education and demonstrating kimchi-making, making it more meaningful by using better raw materials to deliver higher quality finished products.
This volunteer activity was organized to commemorate the 28th anniversary of Gwangju Shinsegae's opening this year and to help the local underprivileged prepare for the winter.
A total of 280 boxes (1,400 kg) of kimchi, directly mixed by the participants, were delivered to a total of 184 households, including children in regular sponsorship programs and families supported through the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation.
Gwangju Shinsegae has been steadily carrying out social contribution activities through volunteer work directly participated in by executives and employees, such as cleaning the Gwangjucheon Stream, plogging on Mudeungsan Mountain, and serving meals at welfare centers.
Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, "Gwangju Shinsegae, the local corporation, prepared volunteer activities for the underprivileged in the region to celebrate its 28th anniversary," and added, "We hope that those who receive the kimchi, lovingly prepared by our executives and employees, will have a warm winter."
Meanwhile, at Shinsegae Department Store headquarters, about 160 executives and employees will directly participate in the 'Sharing Love Kimchi Making' event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its founding.
The kimchi made by Shinsegae employees will be packed in Shinsegae Department Store's eco-friendly insulated bags and donated to comprehensive social welfare centers and child facilities in each region, adding significance to the 60th anniversary of the founding.
