Seongdong-gu Hanyang Plaza Community Shelter 'Moduui Gonggan' Officially Opens for Operation
Seongdong-gu Launches 'Everyone's Space' at Hanyang Square in Front of Hanyang University Intersection
Equipped with 4- and 8-Person Rooms, Computers, Video, and Audio Equipment for Various Activities Including Meetings and Gatherings
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has completed the pilot operation of the shared space "Modu-ui Gonggan" (Everyone's Space), which is available for anyone to use, and is now fully operational.
"Modu-ui Gonggan" is located at Hanyang Square, from Hanyang University Intersection toward Wangsimni Station in Seongdong-gu, and is a shared space freely accessible to everyone. The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and it consists of a 4-person room (11.2㎡) and an 8-person room (17.5㎡). If needed, the two rooms can be combined into one space, and the usage fee is affordable at 1,000 KRW per hour for the 4-person room and 2,000 KRW per hour for the 8-person room.
Those who wish to use the space can make reservations through the "Seongdong-gu Modu-ui Gonggan" mobile app, and the space operates unmanned. In particular, the 8-person room is equipped with a computer, projector, and sound equipment, allowing for versatile use.
Although Hanyang Square, where "Modu-ui Gonggan" is located, is on a main road, it had few users until now. According to a survey conducted by the district, awareness of Hanyang Square was relatively low, and many residents expressed a desire for rest areas or community convenience facilities. To activate space usage and improve resident convenience, the district decided to create a shared space and completed the facility in July. After a four-month pilot operation, full operation began in November.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "I hope many residents will use 'Modu-ui Gonggan,' a shared space available to everyone," and added, "I expect that based on such facilities, sharing and community culture in the local society will further expand."
