Jayang-dong Jangdokgol Children's Park Designated as Gwangjin-gu's First No-Alcohol Zone... Drinking and Possession of Open Alcohol Bottles Prohibited in the Zone... 100,000 KRW Fine for Violations... Guidance Period Until December 31, Enforcement from January 1 Next Year
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has designated Jangdokgol Children's Park (Achasan-ro 40-gil 46) in Jayang-dong as the first no-alcohol zone.
Jangdokgol Children's Park has been a site of continuous complaints due to adults' drinking.
Considering the harmful effects of alcohol consumption on children's health and emotions, the district established provisions for designating no-alcohol zones and imposing fines in the Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of a Healthy Drinking Culture in Gwangjin-gu on October 17 last year. Based on this, on October 4, the district designated Jangdokgol Children's Park as a no-alcohol zone.
According to the ordinance, not only drinking alcohol but also carrying opened alcohol bottles is prohibited in the no-alcohol zone, and violators will be fined 100,000 KRW.
The district plans to conduct enforcement of alcohol prohibition in Jangdokgol Children's Park starting January 1, 2024, after a guidance period until December 31 this year.
