Prosecutors Indict Former Cable TV Executive for Accepting 85 Million Won for Broadcast Appearances
The prosecution indicted a former cable TV executive who received tens of millions of won from a guest in exchange for TV appearances.
According to the legal community on the 10th, the Criminal Division 4 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Yoo Hyo-je) formally charged Park, former head of production at Seoul Economic TV, on the 10th on suspicion of embezzlement.
Park is accused of receiving a total of 85 million won over 17 occasions from securities expert Mr. A, who requested TV appearances and assignment to high viewership time slot programs.
Park, appointed as head of production at Seoul Economic TV in 2018, moved to become vice president of its subsidiary, Seoul Communications, in April.
In August, the Seoul Mapo Police Station raided the vice president's office at Seoul Communications, secured related materials, and on the 23rd of last month, arrested Park and transferred him to the prosecution.

The police decided not to prosecute Mr. A for embezzlement mediation related to delivering money for the appearance request, citing that the statute of limitations had already expired.
