"Grandeur 4 Million Won · Movie Tickets 3,000 Won Discount"… '2023 Kosepe' Opens
The largest shopping discount event in Korea, the '2023 Korea Sale Festa (Kosepe),' will be held from the 11th to the 30th. This year, a record-breaking number of over 2,500 companies are participating, and the event period has been extended from the usual 15 days to 20 days. The Kosepe Promotion Committee and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy have taken steps to stimulate consumption, including selecting athlete Kim Yeon-kyung as the promotional model.
The retail industry has already started discount events in November. Lotte Group is running the 'Lotte Red Festival,' which began on the 2nd and will continue until the 12th. Even after the Lotte Red Festival ends, during the Kosepe period, Lotte Mart will offer up to 50% discounts on fresh and processed foods and daily necessities, a Strawberry Festival, premium Korean beef discount events, and popular toys like LEGO will be discounted by up to 30%.
Lotte Department Store will also hold the largest annual on- and offline cosmetics fair in line with the Lotte Red Festival period, followed by fashion fairs from six major groups (Handsomme/Samsung/SI/Daehyun/Siseon/Baba), an outdoor down fashion week (outlet), and winter regular sales (11.17~12.21 and 12.3) consecutively.
Shinsegae Group will hold 'SSG Day' from the 13th to the 19th. At E-Mart, fresh and processed foods will be discounted by up to 50%, and various winter season products such as heating appliances, bedding, and moisturizing care items will be on sale. Additionally, from November 17 to 19, as a special weekend event, fresh foods like pork belly/neck meat, Korean beef sirloin, Shine Muscat grapes, and Jeju silver cutlassfish will be discounted, along with popular brands of ramen, sauces, canned goods, snacks, frozen foods, toilet paper, diapers, detergents, and toothpaste offering buy-one-get-one or up to 50% discounts.
At Shinsegae Department Store, weekly event items will vary, featuring up to 20% reward discounts on fashion groups (Handsomme/Samsung/SI/ID Look/LF/Baba), fashion accessories, home appliances and furniture, luxury goods/watches/jewelry, with 7% discounts or gift events based on purchase amounts. Winter regular sales with 10-40% discounts are also prepared in line with the department store industry's winter sales season.
Homeplus will operate 'Mega Food Week (11.9~)' during the Kosepe period, offering up to 50% discounts on representative fresh food products, popular brand foods, and buy-one-get-one deals on daily necessities. Hyundai Department Store will participate in Kosepe through the 'Hyundai Department Store Family Week' in collaboration with duty-free shops. Special discounts on directly purchased clothing will be offered mainly at select shops like Peer and Offworks, along with special Kosepe discounts at Hyundai Food Hall. From the 17th, over 300 brands will join the winter regular sales event.
Online shopping malls such as Coupang, Brandy, Gmarket, Tmon, SSG.com, Post Office Shopping, and 11st, as well as home shopping channels like Home&Shopping, NS Home Shopping, and Hyundai Home Shopping, are also preparing discounts or payback benefits during the Kosepe period.
The automotive industry has already started large-scale promotional events in November to coincide with Kosepe. Hyundai Motor Company is offering discounts on 23 major models, including electric vehicles, limited to 24,500 units. Electric vehicles will receive an additional 2 million KRW discount, with total discounts expected to reach 4 to 6 million KRW. Among regular vehicles, the Palisade and G80 will be discounted by 10%, Casper by 17%, and the Grandeur by 4 million KRW. Kia Motors will also discount eight major models including electric vehicles, with electric vehicle discounts ranging from 4.2 to 7 million KRW depending on the model.
Samsung Electronics is conducting discount events on 16 items including TVs and refrigerators, offering up to 5.8 million points for multi-item purchases. LG Electronics is discounting up to 17 items such as dryers, dishwashers, and clothing care appliances, providing up to 4.6 million KRW cashback benefits for multi-item purchases.
For the first time this year, CGV, Megabox, and Lotte Cinema are participating in Kosepe, offering 3,000 KRW discounts on movie tickets and combo sets.
Meanwhile, seven districts in Seoul (Dongdaemun, Seocho, Mapo, Jongno, Gangseo, Jungnang, Yeongdeungpo) have changed the mandatory closure days for large marts from 12 days to 5 days. Accordingly, large marts in these seven districts will operate normally on the 12th and have prepared special weekend discount events.

At the Kosepe Paldo Market operated by Interpark, Gongyoung Shopping, Hmall, and Lotte ON, about 1,600 representative local specialty products from various local governments are available. Naver's 'Side-by-Side Store' is hosting the Kosepe Win-Win Market, and with support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Tmon, Wemakeprice, and 11st are holding sales events for SME products. At Panpan Shop located in Incheon Airport and Mokdong Hyundai Department Store, Kosepe special product exhibitions featuring SME products are prepared.
