Professor Ko Jae-woong of Chosun University Hospital Appointed President of Hannam Corneal Society
Professor Ko Jae-woong of the Department of Ophthalmology at Chosun University Hospital was recently appointed as the new president of the Hannam Cornea Society. His term will begin in 2024 and last for two years.
The Hannam Cornea Society is an academic organization composed of ophthalmologists researching corneal and tear diseases outside of Seoul. It was established in 2006 and holds three academic conferences annually.
Professor Ko previously served as the director of the Chosun University Health Clinic and as the head of the Ophthalmic Optics Project Group at Chosun University. He successfully secured a 18 billion KRW project, the "Globalization Support Project for Ophthalmic Optical Medical Devices (Ophthalmic Optics Project Group)," funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Gwangju Metropolitan City, contributing to public health promotion and the development of the ophthalmic optical medical industry.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Korean Ophthalmological Society, a member of the Examination Committee of the Korean Ophthalmological Society, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Korean Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Treasurer of the Korean Dry Eye Society, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Medical Industry Development Council, a medical device reviewer for the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and a member of the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Committee.

He has received numerous awards including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Paper Award, the Korean Ophthalmological Society Paper Merit Award and Academic Research Award, the Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor’s Award, and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award.
