After a Fight with His Wife... Dad Pushes Daughter on Swing, Sending Her Flying 3m
Witness "Emotions Ran High When Approaching the Child"
A biological father who pushed his young daughter off a swing in a fit of anger after a marital quarrel has been booked on charges of child abuse.
According to Channel A on the 6th, a report suspected of child abuse was received by the police at a playground in an apartment complex in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on the 24th of last month.
CCTV footage of the incident shows a man sitting on a bench approaching a child who was swinging alone. Suddenly, the man grabbed the swing roughly, causing the child to fall to the ground.
When the child got back on the swing, the man pushed it with all his strength. The swing rose well above adult height and then quickly swung back down, causing the child to be thrown about 3 meters toward the back of the playground. The man who pushed the child was confirmed to be her biological father. After the child fell, the man helped her up and handed her over to the approaching mother.
Fortunately, the child only suffered abrasions. However, since there was a metal fence where the child fell, it was a dangerous situation that could have led to a serious accident.
According to witnesses, the man had been arguing with his wife, and when the child kept asking to be pushed on the swing, he pushed her irritably in a fit of anger. One witness said, "I heard them fighting (the couple)," and added, "He was very emotionally agitated even when approaching the child."
