Prosecution Seeks Death Penalty for Jeong Yoo-jeong in 'Peer Murder' Case
Prosecutors: "Victim killed as a means of venting anger"
The prosecution has demanded the death penalty for Jeong Yujeong, who was brought to trial on charges of murdering a woman in her 20s, whom she met through a tutoring app, and then mutilating and abandoning the body.

View original imageAt the sentencing hearing for Jeong Yujeong held on the 6th under the jurisdiction of the Criminal Division 6 of the Busan District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Tae-eop), the prosecution requested the court to impose the death penalty, stating, "She killed a victim she had never met as a means of venting anger, instilling fear that anyone could be killed without any reason."
Jeong Yujeong was charged with visiting the home of victim A (in her 20s), pretending to be a middle school student looking for a tutor on May 26 of this year, murdering her, and then mutilating and abandoning the corpse.
The prosecution criticized, "The victim was stabbed more than 110 times with a weapon, and must have suffered extreme pain due to the prolonged nature of the crime," adding, "The defendant shifts responsibility onto the victim and repeatedly lies, showing no sincere remorse."
The prosecution also disclosed a petition letter from the bereaved family. The petition, made public by the prosecution, reportedly contained statements such as, "The pain grows deeper as time passes," and "Please impose a severe punishment to prevent such horrific incidents."

During the trial, Jeong Yujeong showed no remorse, stating, "I did not think about venting my anger. I needed someone to die with me, and someone to listen to my story one last time," and "I needed someone to go with me. I believed that by dying together, I would be reincarnated," which sparked public outrage.
