Dongjak-gu "If You Put a Kimjang Waste Sticker, It's OK to Dispose in Regular Volume-Based Waste Bags"
Temporary Approval for Using 20ℓ, 30ℓ, and 50ℓ Bags with Exclusive Stickers from November 6 to December 22
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it will temporarily allow kimchi-making waste generated in general households to be disposed of in regular volume-based waste bags until December 22.
Vegetable scraps such as napa cabbage and radish generated during kimchi-making must be placed in food waste-only bags, but these bags have a maximum capacity of only 10ℓ, making it inconvenient to dispose of the large amount of kimchi-making waste.
The district will operate a special separate disposal period for kimchi-making waste from the 6th of this month until the 22nd of next month. By attaching a dedicated kimchi-making waste sticker, residents can dispose of waste in regular volume-based bags of 20ℓ, 30ℓ, or 50ℓ sizes.
The dedicated stickers can be obtained free of charge at the local community service centers or volume-based waste bag sales points in the resident’s district, and all residents in detached houses, row houses, and apartments within the district can use them.
When disposing of kimchi-making waste, moisture and foreign substances must be removed as much as possible, and mixing with other general waste will result in a fine of up to 100,000 KRW.
After the designated period, even kimchi-making waste must be disposed of using food waste-only bags.
