Yoon Holds Summit with Irish Prime Minister... Discusses Cooperation Measures
First Solo Visit to South Korea by Irish Leader Since Diplomatic Relations Established
President Yoon Suk-yeol held a summit meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 3rd to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Varadkar visited South Korea for a one-night, two-day working visit from the 2nd to the 3rd. This is the first solo visit by an Irish head of state to South Korea in 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1983.
President Yoon met Prime Minister Varadkar wearing an orange tie matching the colors of the Irish national flag.
Attending the meeting from the Presidential Office were Cho Tae-yong, Director of National Security Office; Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of National Security Office; and Lee Chung-myeon, Foreign Secretary.
