Sinan-gun Increases Taxi Base Fare to 5,000 Won
Taxi Meter Repair Inspection to be Applied Starting from the 6th
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) will raise the basic taxi fare, which had been frozen since July 2019, from 4,000 won to 5,000 won starting from the 6th.
According to the county on the 3rd, this fare increase was decided considering the worsening management difficulties in the industry and the burden on low-income households, as the need to reflect the actual taxi fare due to vehicle maintenance costs, fuel costs, and minimum wage increases during the four-year fare freeze has been continuously raised.
Shinan-gun will raise the basic taxi fare from 4,000 won to 5,000 won for the first time in four years, effective from the 6th.

The increased fare was finally set at a 16.01% increase, which is lower than the 19.75% increase rate for taxi fares and rates in Jeollanam-do confirmed through the Jeollanam-do Consumer Policy Committee review last July.
With this fare increase, the basic fare for mid-sized taxis has been raised from 4,000 won for 2 km to 5,000 won for 2 km, and the distance fare has changed from 160 won per 146 m to 160 won per 140 m.
Meanwhile, the time fare (160 won per 35 seconds) and the late-night surcharge (20%) applied from midnight to 4 a.m. will remain unchanged.
The fare increase was decided after collecting opinions from the taxi industry and reviewing by the county price countermeasure committee, and will be applied from the 6th after the taxi meter repair inspection is completed.
