Goheung-gun Launches Joint Inspection in Preparation for 'Yuja Festival'

Gohung-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that on the 2nd, a joint inspection team consisting of related organizations such as Gohung Police Station, Gohung Fire Station, Korea Gas Safety Corporation Jeonnam Eastern Branch, and private experts conducted a joint safety inspection at the event site to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the ‘3rd Gohung Yuja Festival,’ held from the 3rd to the 5th in the Pungyang-myeon area.

This festival, themed around Gohung’s representative specialty, Yuja (citron), features various events including ‘Yuyu Jajeok Yuja-gil Walking,’ a tour around the Yuja festival site; ‘Yuja C Parade,’ a street play using fresh Yuja fruits; ‘Yuja Theme Park,’ offering various Yuja-related attractions; and ‘Yuja Field Nightscape,’ a light show beautifully illuminating the Yuja festival site in the evening. Along with popular singer performances, drone shows, and fireworks, the festival promises unique and diverse events that will provide unforgettable moments for both residents and numerous tourists.

Earlier, on the 23rd of last month, the county held a safety management working committee meeting to review the overall safety management plan for the event. One day before the event, after the installation of major facilities such as temporary stages and electrical equipment was completed, a pre-inspection by sector was conducted to enhance the effectiveness of the joint inspection.

The joint inspection team checked whether the issues raised at the safety management working committee meeting had been corrected, and conducted thorough and detailed inspections of facilities such as structures, electrical, and fire-fighting equipment. They also examined safety measures at the event site, including securing rescue and first aid routes and managing hazardous materials, especially considering the expected large crowds and potential emergency situations.

Furthermore, minor issues found during the inspection were corrected on-site, and any matters posing accident risks were instructed to be fully addressed before the event started, ensuring a safe and successful festival.

A county official stated, “The 3rd Gohung Yuja Festival boasts an interesting lineup including four main programs, various Yuja experiences, and photo zones. We will do our best to provide flawless safety management so that many visitors to the festival can remember Gohung-gun filled with the fresh scent of Yuja.”
