Running in Songpa? "Can Help Expand the Democratic Party"
On the 3rd, Park Ji-hyun, former Emergency Committee Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, explained the reason behind her tears at the site of Representative Lee Jae-myung's hunger strike during an interview with KBS Radio's Choi Kang Sisa.
Former Committee Member Park Ji-hyun said, "I am originally someone who cries easily, and since the party leader had been on a hunger strike for a long time, I thought it was a human duty to go. It had been a while since I last saw him. But when I saw how emaciated he had become, tears suddenly welled up."

Park Ji-hyun recently attracted attention by expressing her intention to compete against Representative Bae Hyun-jin in the Seoul Songpa-eul district, known as a stronghold of the People Power Party.
Regarding the background of her choice of electoral district, Park Ji-hyun said, "The first criterion I set was a place where my candidacy in the general election could help expand the Democratic Party," adding, "A place that could signify stopping the unilateral rule of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. Also, a place where residents are willing to choose change. When I considered all these conditions, I thought Songpa-eul fit perfectly."
Regarding the nature of the 22nd general election on April 10 next year, Park Ji-hyun said, "This election is inevitably a judgment on the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," and added, "This election has become a battle between moving toward the future or going back to the past." She also said she would do her best according to the party's rules and stated, "I have never considered running as an independent."
On the issue of Gimpo City's incorporation into Seoul, which has become a political hotspot, Park Ji-hyun said, "To put it simply, it's an impulsive populist policy for the general election," and added, "I saw it only as a card hastily brought out after Representative Kim Ki-hyun suffered a major defeat in the Gangseo District Office election."
