Homeplus announced on the 3rd that Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, visited the Homeplus headquarters and the 'Homeplus Mega Food Market' Gangseo branch the day before. This visit marks the second time a prominent Canadian official has visited Homeplus, following Tamara Mohini, the Canadian Ambassador to Korea, in July.

Minister Lawrence MacAulay and officials from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada came to Korea to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada this year and to inspect the Korean market, a major importer of Canadian livestock products. On the first day, they visited Homeplus, held a meeting with CEO Lee Je-hoon and other executives, and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in livestock product sales. Afterwards, they moved to the Homeplus Mega Food Market Gangseo branch to observe the sales of Canadian livestock products and tasted Homeplus's representative product, "Barley-Fed Pork (Bomeokdwae)".

Homeplus began regular sales of Canadian pork in early 2021. Since last year, it has branded "Barley-Fed Pork" as a flagship product of the "2022 Price Stabilization Project" to increase awareness. Sales have steadily doubled every year. Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, said, "Canada is known worldwide as a country that produces high-quality and sustainable agricultural and food products," adding, "We look forward to continuing to showcase the best agricultural and food products Canada offers through cooperation with Korean companies."
