Gumi-si to Host Festival Celebrating the 106th Birthday of President Park Jeong-hee
Expansion into Cultural Events, Special Exhibition of Unreleased Relics
Special Lectures by Korean History Instructor Choi Tae-seong and Others, Reflecting on Achievements and National Perspectives
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province will hold various commemorative and cultural events such as a birthday celebration, special exhibitions, guest lectures by notable figures, and cultural and artistic events to mark the 106th anniversary of President Park Jeong-hui's birth.
The cultural event celebrating the 106th birthday of President Park Jeong-hui, held on the 14th, will begin with a memorial ceremony at his birthplace memorial hall, followed by a commemorative ceremony on a special stage next to the Park Jeong-hui Presidential History Museum. The event will also feature a celebratory concert with popular singers, popera, and choir performances, allowing citizens to celebrate and enjoy together.
Prior to this, a special exhibition is being held on the second floor of the Park Jeong-hui Presidential History Museum, showcasing 27 previously unreleased personal items from the storage, including the president’s last birthday gift. Additionally, in the first-floor lobby, the official vehicle that accompanied President Park throughout his long journey is also on display.
On the 12th, the ‘Love for the Nation Concert’ will be held at the Grand Performance Hall of the Cultural and Arts Center, featuring a feast of classical music with performances by vocalist Im San and an orchestra. On the 14th, the 24th Korea Essence Art Competition awards ceremony and exhibition, a nationwide art contest, will take place at the Saemaeul Movement Theme Park area.
There will also be opportunities to properly examine President Park’s achievements and values. On the 4th, reporter Kim Yong-sam from Pen & Mike will give a special lecture, followed by political commentator Go Seong-guk on the 11th at the Park Jeong-hui Presidential History Museum. On the 18th, a lecture by Choi Tae-seong, a famous top Korean history instructor known as Keunbyeolsaem, will be held at the Grand Performance Hall of the Cultural and Arts Center.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “To commemorate the 106th birthday of President Park Jeong-hui, we will promote events of ‘education’ and ‘learning’ that reflect on the president’s achievements and national vision. Beyond solemn and reverent ceremonies, we aim to create a festival space where citizens can gather and enjoy various content and attractions together.”

The Central Council of Saemaeul Leaders (Chairman Kim Jong-bok) will erect the ‘Saemaeul Movement Founding Monument’ in front of the Park Jeong-hui Presidential History Museum on the 9th to commemorate the birth anniversary and to inherit and develop the Saemaeul spirit, which laid the foundation for South Korea’s economic development, followed by an unveiling ceremony.
