Chungnam Province, First Step in Fostering the 'Electroluminescent Display' Industry
The first step has been taken in Chungnam Province's plan to foster the inorganic light-emitting display industry.
On the 2nd, Chungnam Province announced that the project "Inorganic Light-Emitting Display Technology Development and Ecosystem Establishment" has been finally confirmed as a target for preliminary feasibility study.

Chungnam Province expects that if the inorganic light-emitting display-related project passes the preliminary feasibility study, a budget of 950 billion KRW, the largest ever among social overhead capital (SOC) projects, will be invested in Asan Tangjeong Industrial Complex.
Based on this, Chungnam Province plans to foster the local display industry in connection with the national advanced strategic industry specialized complex.
In collaboration with Asan City, Korea Photonics Technology Institute, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Chungnam Technopark, and the Display Industry Association, the core plan is to establish an Inorganic Light-Emitting Display Smart Modular Center on a 6,400㎡ (1,936 pyeong) site in Asan Tangjeong Industrial Complex, with a building area of 4,000㎡ (3,000㎡ cleanroom and 1,000㎡ technology support building).
Inorganic light-emitting displays are considered the world's top new technology that compensates for the weaknesses of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which are vulnerable to oxygen and moisture, and can realize high reliability, high brightness, and long lifespan even in solar environments.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to invest 790.5 billion KRW in technology development and 159.5 billion KRW in infrastructure creation, totaling 950 billion KRW in the inorganic light-emitting display field from 2025 to 2032. The national government budget accounts for 700.1 billion KRW of the total project cost.
