One-Stop Support for Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Childcare... Seocho-gu Opens Yangjae Mother and Child Health Center
183-pyeong space on the 3rd floor of Yangjae Public Parking Lot... Interior divided into 4 zones following family formation trends, providing customized one-stop services from pregnancy preparation to childbirth and childcare... Plans for regular satisfaction surveys and support for local community spaces to develop into a 'Resident-Participatory Maternal and Child Health Center'
Seocho-gu has opened a customized health center for pregnant women and infants in the Yangjae and Naegok areas, following the Seocho and Bangbae areas.
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) officially began operating the ‘Yangjae Maternal and Child Health Center’ on the 1st, providing a ‘customized one-stop health service from pregnancy preparation to childbirth and childcare.’
The district established the maternal and child health center in Yangjae-dong to provide services close to the Yangjae and Naegok areas, where many infants are concentrated, to support healthy pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare. Until now, the maternal and child health infrastructure in the area was mainly located in the Seocho and Bangbae areas, such as Seocho-gu Health Center, Seocho Maternal and Child Health Branch, and Bangbae Health Branch.
The Yangjae Maternal and Child Health Center was created on the 3rd floor of the Yangjae Public Parking Lot (Yangjae-dong 90-2), covering an area of 607㎡. From the basic design stage, careful consideration was given to user safety and mobility, applying universal design (common design) that allows use without restrictions on gender, disability, or age, reflected in the interior and design elements.
There are a total of 11 staff members, including 8 nurses and 1 social worker, stationed here.
The interior space is divided into four zones according to the family formation flow: ▲Healing Zone ▲Health Zone ▲First Step Zone ▲Learning Zone, designed to allow easy and quick access to necessary maternal and child health services.
Looking at the detailed spaces, the Healing Zone is designed as a comfortable space with the concept of ‘five senses stimulation.’ Here, pregnant women can sit on sofas, listen to music, drink herbal tea, and gain psychological stability and rest.
The ‘Health Zone’ provides services for families from pre-pregnancy to post-childbirth, including ▲medical expense support such as postpartum care costs ▲comprehensive infertility support including infertility counseling and healing programs ▲maternal and newborn health management and pregnancy and childbirth counseling services.
The ‘First Step Zone’ targets families after childbirth, operating ▲Seocho Baby Health First Step and early life health management ▲mother’s meeting room ▲regular breastfeeding clinic. In the ‘Learning Zone,’ health programs such as ▲Pre-marriage Happiness Class ▲Prenatal Education Class ▲Expectant Parent Class ▲Infant Health Parent Class are offered.
In the future, the district plans to conduct user satisfaction surveys and reflect the results in program composition. Additionally, it aims to develop into a ‘resident-participatory maternal and child health center’ through community spaces for sharing childcare and health information and support for clubs.
Meanwhile, on the 31st, an opening ceremony for the Yangjae Maternal and Child Health Center was held. At the event, attended by about 50 residents, the center was introduced and a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place. Side events included a mother’s meeting (mother and baby development play), a trio performance by the Seoripul Youth Arts Group, and a humanities lecture with classical music by Professor Park Juhyun.
