Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju to Host 'World Citizen Culture Festival' on November 4
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 31st that the 2023 Gwangsan Global Citizen Culture Festival, titled "Meeting the World in Gwangsan," will be held on the 4th of next month at Hwangryong Chinsu Park in the Seonun District.
This event is a place to experience global cultures with all five senses, respecting and exchanging each other's cultures and traditions while fostering mutual understanding.
Planned and participated in by immigrants and migrants from 25 countries residing in Gwangsan-gu, the festival will present a rich and diverse program supported by the National Asia Culture Center and the Gwangju Cultural Foundation.
The event opens with "Story in Asia," a creative musical drama by the National Asia Culture Center that harmonizes traditional music from Korea, Myanmar, and Indonesia, based on Asian folktales.
Following this, the Gwangju Cultural Foundation’s "Fringe Festival" segment, "Our Neighborhood Fringe," welcomes citizens with spectacular and awe-inspiring performances that engage the audience, including classical performance pieces themed on the environment, traditional mask dances, and jazz street dance.
The highlight of the event will be the "National Community Parade," showcasing the cultural diversity of Gwangsan at a glance. Over 100 participants from 10 countries living in Gwangsan-gu will come together to present a magnificent scene of different cultures blending into one.
A traditional arts performance competition featuring global citizens residing across the country will also take place. After preliminary rounds, eight final teams will compete, showcasing their traditional folk and artistic performances, promising unique entertainment and excitement.
A world film festival will be held as well. A "Tent Zone" will be operated for families, couples, and friends to relax and enjoy, with mat rentals available.
Additionally, visitors can experience various meaningful and entertaining programs that are rarely accessible, including ▲ the "Peanut Donation Train" to help global war refugees ▲ the "Global Arcade" to experience traditional games from around the world ▲ world costume experiences ▲ cooking experiences of various international dishes ▲ a global duty-free shop selling international goods ▲ diverse cultural experience booths ▲ and global citizenship education.

Gwangsan-gu will provide visitors with a "Stamp Tour" passport. Collecting stamps by visiting each experience booth will allow participants to receive gifts such as a "Life Photo Booth," "Lucky Roulette," and "Non-Alcoholic Cocktails."
