70s Male Stabs with Weapon in Front of Yongsan Presidential Office... Police Officer Injured
A man wielding a weapon caused a disturbance in front of the Yongsan Presidential Office, injuring a police officer who tried to intervene.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on the 31st that they had arrested a man in his 70s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of special assault.
Mr. A is accused of carrying a weapon and wandering around in front of the Yongsan Presidential Office at around 1:20 p.m. that day, injuring a police officer who attempted to subdue him.
The police officer, who belongs to the 202 Security Unit responsible for outer perimeter security of the Presidential Office, sustained injuries to his arm and abdomen and was taken to a hospital. However, the injuries are reported to be not severe.
Mr. A is known to be a habitual protester near the Presidential Office.
