Luxury 'Boseong Kiwi' Officially Shipped

Annual Production of 4,500 Tons, the Largest Nationwide

Jeonnim Boseong-gun announced that Boseong Kiwi, registered and managed as Agricultural Product Geographical Indication No. 111, is being shipped in full swing as the harvest season arrives.

Boseong has the longest history of kiwi cultivation in South Korea, spanning over 40 years, and is undoubtedly the representative major production area of kiwi in South Korea, producing about 4,500 tons annually over an area of approximately 260 hectares.

Boseong Kiwi, grown in the sea breeze of Deukryang Bay and a climate full of sunshine throughout the year, boasts higher sweetness and storability than other kiwis by using eco-friendly new concept farming methods such as Stevia farming.

To maintain its reputation as a major kiwi production area, Boseong Kiwi has obtained GAP certification from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, thoroughly managing quality from production to sales stages.

In 2022, it was recognized for its excellent quality by being registered as Agricultural Product Geographical Indication No. 111 by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service for the first time nationwide.

A representative of Boseong-gun said, “We will devote all our efforts to establishing a foundation so that Boseong Kiwi can represent South Korea and compete with global kiwi brands.”

Meanwhile, kiwi is a nutrient-dense fruit full of dietary fiber and has recently been spotlighted as a symbol of diet fruits. It is rich in essential nutrients such as vitamins, folic acid, and calcium, and has a high immune-boosting effect, making it especially good for growing children and pregnant women.
