Cattle Culling at Affected Farms, Livestock Farmers Temporarily Restricted from Movement
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has taken active quarantine measures after Lumpy Skin Disease occurred at a livestock farm located in Uichang-gu.

View original imageThe farm owner noticed clinical symptoms such as high fever and skin nodules on a Hanwoo cattle on the 30th and reported the suspicion through a veterinarian. According to the test results from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, the cattle was confirmed to have Lumpy Skin Disease.
Changwon City deployed a joint control team and the public health center’s quarantine team to disinfect the area around the livestock farm and issued a temporary movement restriction order on the affected farm. All cattle being raised were culled. From 11 p.m. on the 30th to 11 p.m. on the 31st, a 24-hour temporary movement ban on livestock and related vehicles was ordered for workers and vehicles associated with cattle farms in Gyeongnam.
Additionally, Changwon City ordered an emergency vaccination against Lumpy Skin Disease and plans to complete the vaccination promptly by November 10th as soon as the vaccine arrives.
Kim Jonghaek, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, urged, “To prevent the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease, cattle farms should thoroughly control blood-sucking insects and disinfect barns, and refrain from moving between farms. If suspicious symptoms are found, please report immediately to the nearest quarantine agency.”
