First Lady Kim Geon-hee Attends 2023 Red Cross Bazaar Event... Also Purchases Coffee and Jacket
Purchase of Bazaar Items with Wives of Ambassadors in Korea
The Presidential Office announced that First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol, attended the 2023 Red Cross Bazaar held at COEX in Seoul on the morning of the 31st.
The Korean Red Cross has traditionally invited the honorary chairperson, the president's wife, to events such as the Red Cross Bazaar and the production of gifts of love. Following last year, Mrs. Kim visited the event venue again this year to encourage officials and volunteers.
Mrs. Kim attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the start of the bazaar, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Red Cross Bazaar this year, and then toured various bazaar booths.
Mrs. Kim particularly visited booths selling folk crafts and specialties from around the world alongside wives of foreign ambassadors to Korea, as well as booths selling recycled goods (unused and secondhand products), where she examined and purchased bazaar items.
She touched Colombian coffee beans and asked in English, "Can I buy this?" She also took cash from her wallet to purchase a basket containing Brazilian coffee beans and wine. Mrs. Kim received a book related to coffee as a gift.
At the recycled goods booth, she compared a women's black leather jacket and a men's brown leather jacket, commenting, "The president is so big that it's hard to find something that fits." When Mrs. Kim tried on the leather jacket, people around her said "You look pretty" and applauded.
While expressing gratitude to visitors, Mrs. Kim also donated 'ByeBye Plastic' eco-bags that can be used to carry purchased items.
