Support for Mobility of Transportation Disadvantaged, Establishment of Intelligent Transportation System
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province received the highest evaluation in transportation policy among large cities in the province this year.
Yongin City announced on the 31st that it was selected as the top institution in the '2023 Gyeonggi Province Transportation Sector Evaluation' in recognition of its efforts to enhance citizens' experience through convenient transportation policies.
Since 2007, Gyeonggi Province has been conducting evaluations of 31 cities and counties to protect residents' safety and improve mobility convenience. The evaluation is divided into three groups based on population: Group A (540,000 or more), Group B (230,000 to 540,000), and Group C (less than 230,000), and comprehensively reviews performance in five areas: general transportation, traffic safety, taxi administration, public transportation, and traffic information. Yongin City received the highest score among the 11 cities and counties in Group A and was selected as the best institution in Gyeonggi Province.

The city explained that it received high marks for operating the Yongin City Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center to improve mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups, providing convenient services with 72 special transportation vehicles and 100 voucher call taxis, enabling 24-hour mobility throughout the metropolitan area.
Since May last year, the city has also opened a Technical Support Center for Mobility Convenience Facilities for the Transportation Vulnerable, offering technical consultations on transportation means and passenger facilities, and has made efforts to secure mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups by expanding the operation of low-floor buses.
In addition, the city added that it received favorable evaluations for implementing an intelligent transportation system by providing integrated parking information using real-time collected traffic data and establishing a smart intersection system, thereby promoting convenient transportation policies.
