Gwangju Seo-gu Council Appoints Policy Advisory Group
The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City is drawing attention for its future actions as it formed a consultative body on the 30th for the first time since its opening to propose alternatives for enhancing residents' welfare, including policy support and task discovery.
The 'Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council Policy Advisory Group (hereinafter referred to as the Policy Advisory Group)' is a multi-stakeholder public-private consultative committee that goes beyond the existing committee functions limited to advising on council operations, focusing on analyzing the achievements and issues of district administration and establishing future measures.
Kim Hyung-mi, a council member elected as the head of the Policy Advisory Group (Safety and Construction TF Team), said, "I believe that unconditional reprimand and criticism due to wrong outcomes are not the entirety of the council's functions."
She added, "If the private sector, district office, and council cooperate through rational and constructive discussions from their respective positions, I believe we can repay the 290,000 Seo-gu residents with good results, which led to the proposal and promotion of the ordinance for operating the Policy Advisory Group."
Meanwhile, the Policy Advisory Group plans to expand its functions across all fields including culture, economy, environment, and welfare in the future, led by the construction sector to manage the aftermath and support victims of the Hwajeong-dong I-Park collapse accident.
