This November, various events such as the ‘League of Legends (LoL) World Championship’ and ‘G-star 2023’ are waiting for game fans.
First, the ‘World Championship,’ which determines the strongest player of the year in the number one popular LoL game, will come to Busan. From November 2 to 5, the quarterfinal matches will be held daily at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, and on November 11 and 12, the semifinals, which have featured the most exciting matches in history, will take place.
Following last year’s MSI, eight teams that achieved three wins among 16 teams in the Swiss stage held in Seoul will continue thrilling matches in Busan during the knockout stage.
MSI refers to the League of Legends esports international tournament (Mid-Season Invitational).
League of Legends is one of the esports events at the Asian Games, and many fans worldwide can enjoy the World Championship both online and offline.
Busan City and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency will operate side events alongside the World Championship to allow fans who love League of Legends to enjoy even more. During the quarterfinals, the Busan Esports Stadium located in Samjeong Tower, Seomyeon, will be operated as a knockout stage event zone, where a quarterfinal viewing event will be held.
Also, during the semifinals, expanded participation events will take place in the outdoor space of Sajik Indoor Gymnasium. Various booths and events will be operated so that everyone can freely participate even without a game ticket, further raising the excitement of the World Championship.
After enjoying the artistic gameplay of the world’s top players at the World Championship, from November 16 to 19, you can directly experience and enjoy new games at the global game show ‘G-star’ held at BEXCO.
G-star 2023, prepared on the largest scale ever, will feature major domestic and international game companies such as Wemade, the main sponsor for two consecutive years, NCSoft, Google Play, Smilegate, as well as Busan game companies Masangsoft and Everstone. Additionally, 23 Busan game companies will participate in the Busan joint booth in the BTB hall, preparing for business marketing.
This year, G-star 2023 admission tickets are only available through advance reservation, and there will be no on-site ticket sales, so special attention is required.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “This November, I hope everyone enjoys and learns everything about games here in Busan, including esports matches, game culture and industry, and domestic and international gaming trends, and has a meaningful time. We will do our best to support the event with close cooperation with related organizations, prioritizing safety to ensure a safe and successful tournament.”
