Joe Biden "Prepared for Additional Action in Response to U.S. Military Attacks"... Warning to Pro-Iran Forces
U.S. President Joe Biden warned that he is prepared to take additional actions against groups linked to Iran.
According to major foreign media on the 27th (local time), President Biden stated in a letter sent to U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson that the U.S. is "ready to take further measures" in response to attacks targeting U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.
This letter came after the U.S. military conducted airstrikes on two facilities in eastern Syria linked to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) earlier that day.
The U.S. military struck ammunition depots and weapons storage sites used by the IRGC and armed groups supported by the IRGC with F-16 fighter jets.
The airstrikes followed reports that nearly 20 U.S. troops were injured after U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria were attacked by suicide drones and rockets from Iran-backed armed groups on the 18th.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, there have been at least 12 attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq since the 17th, with an additional four attacks in Syria.
As the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas intensifies, threats and attacks by pro-Iran armed groups against U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East have increased.
Ultimately, President Biden ordered retaliatory strikes and warned of further measures. In the letter sent to the House, Biden emphasized that "this strike to establish deterrence was conducted in a way that limits the escalation of risk and avoids civilian casualties."
