'Bullet Threat' Banner... Sang-min Lee Asks, "Is Jaemyung Lee Enjoying It?"
SNS Post "Will CEO Lee Stand By and Do Nothing?"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been calling for 'unity' since returning to party affairs, but the non-Lee faction (Bimyeong faction) is voicing dissatisfaction, saying that the party and leadership are neglecting threats from Lee's strong supporter base, the 'Gaeddal (Daughters of Reform)'. In particular, dissatisfaction among the Bimyeong faction has grown as a banner containing death threats against them was recently hung in the constituency of Lee Won-wook, a Bimyeong faction Democratic Party lawmaker.
Lee Sang-min, a Bimyeong faction Democratic Party lawmaker, said on his social media on the 26th, "The banner hung in Lee Won-wook's constituency mentioning 'the last bullet remaining' is too shameful and chilling," and raised his voice, asking, "Is Leader Lee going to stand by and watch, or is he enjoying this?"
The 'banner' he referred to was recently hung in Dongtan, Gyeonggi Province, Lee Won-wook's constituency. It referred to Bimyeong faction lawmakers as "remnants of the pro-prosecutor Yoon Seok-yeol's native Japanese collaborators" and stated, "If I had one bullet, I would execute a hundred or a thousand times more the traitors who betrayed the country and democracy than the Japanese," effectively containing a death threat.
In response, Lee said, "I sigh at how rotten and broken the Democratic Party, which values democracy and human rights as fundamental principles, has become," adding, "Unity? That makes me laugh bitterly." This reflects the perception that despite Leader Lee's calls for unity, threats from Gaeddal towards the Bimyeong faction within the party persist.
Cho Eung-cheon, another Bimyeong faction Democratic Party lawmaker, appeared on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and criticized, "They hung a banner in Lee Won-wook's constituency saying, 'If I have only one bullet left, I will execute these traitors before the Japanese,' and hung a banner on Yoon Young-chan saying 'He collaborated with Yoon Seok-yeol.' These things are just left alone," adding, "I believe such acts severely hinder party unity, so why is there no comment or restraint from the party? Why is it just being ignored?"
This movement is also an extension of the ongoing tension between the pro-Lee (Chinmyeong) and non-Lee (Bimyeong) factions within the party. Although Leader Lee stated there would be no disciplinary action against the pro-Lee faction upon his return, the pro-Lee faction emphasizes the need for discipline, saying it is only temporarily postponed.
Regarding this, Lawmaker Cho pointed out the persistent conflict between the pro-Lee and Bimyeong factions, saying, "How can I know when the fish lying on the cutting board will be struck? They are hesitating, 'Should I strike or not?' Some say it should be struck, others say leave it alone."
Lee Won-wook, who was targeted by the 'death threat banner terror,' counterattacked on his social media the same day, stating that disciplinary action against the pro-Lee faction is necessary.

Lee said, "The agitation for the rejection of the arrest motion against Leader Lee is a prohibited act," and demanded that Leader Lee take measures against the pro-Lee leadership who led this. He added, "The misconduct of the lawmakers who incited this act and the accompanying misbehavior of the Gaeddal who supported them are still ongoing," and said, "You must clearly state your position on how to handle this. This is not an issue to be overlooked or glossed over with words telling us not to argue."
