Over 30 Korean-Germans Visiting Homeland, On-Site Inspection

Gohung County, Jeonnam (County Governor Gong Young-min) announced that on the 25th, about 30 Korean-German expatriates visited the Geumsan Seokjeong District Saekkum City (German Village) site in Goheung for a welcoming ceremony and on-site briefing session.

The visit by the Korean-German expatriates was organized by the Goheung German Village Promotion Committee (Chairman Kim Gwang-nam) for those among the overseas Koreans visiting Korea to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Korea-Germany diplomatic relations who are interested in moving into the German Village in Geumsan Seokjeong District, Goheung.

The Goheung Geumsan Seokjeong District German Village development project is a business that attracts private capital to sell to demanders a complex residential space equipped with country houses, sports and commercial facilities targeting Korean-German workers, returnees to farming and rural areas, and retirees.

Goheung County held a grand welcoming event and an explanatory meeting for these expatriates, hoping that they would spend their retirement comfortably in the German Village in Geumsan Seokjeong District, Goheung, in appreciation of their hard work so far.

Ha Young-soon, president of the Korean Senior Citizens Association German Branch, said, “I was impressed by the development of the homeland and especially deeply moved by the natural scenery of Goheung and the warm welcome of the residents when visiting the German Village site in Geumsan Seokjeong District, Goheung,” adding, “I will widely promote the Goheung German Village development plan in places like Hamburg and Hanover in Germany and support recruiting residents.”

Also, some expatriates who listened to the on-site explanation about the German Village development signed contracts for residence on the spot, receiving much interest and positive response from the attendees.

County Governor Gong Young-min said in his welcoming remarks, “I express my respect and gratitude for your dedication and passion, and going forward, our county plans to provide generous support so that the German Village is well developed and you can live your second life in Goheung without inconvenience.”
