Jeju English Education City Development Council Launches Traffic Safety Campaign
The Jeju English Education City Development Council (Chairman Kim Kyung-bo) announced on the 26th that it conducted a safety campaign in collaboration with the Seogwipo Police Station around Jeju English Education City the previous day to enhance traffic safety for children and adolescents.
As the first campaign in Jeju English Education City, the event was held under the theme "Kickboard Safety Edition," targeting children, adolescents, and parents who lack knowledge about helmet use and safety and legal information related to electric kickboards.

To operate this campaign effectively, the Seogwipo Police Station under the Jeju Provincial Police Agency participated, and former Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Police Chief Ko Ki-cheol joined as an advisory member of the Development Council.
With the rapid increase in the use of shared kickboards, which have recently emerged as a means of transportation, traffic accidents related to them are also rising sharply, leading to calls for more fundamental countermeasures and regulations.
However, since safety rules are not being followed in daily life, the Jeju Provincial Police Agency held a safety campaign within Jeju English Education City after prior consultation.
Kim Kyung-bo, chairman of the Jeju English Education City Development Council, conducted the campaign to spread a proper traffic culture in Jeju English Education City, a youth-dense area, following previous crime prevention activities for children and adolescents.
Chairman Kim said, "Various programs are being implemented not only to prevent crime but also to lead students in traffic culture and prevent traffic accidents. However, due to the frequent accidents involving personal mobility devices that have recently surged, the council decided to take the lead in ensuring the safety of youth," adding, "We will make it a global traffic safety city with the slogan 'Please Protect This Child.'"
He continued, "This campaign is not a one-time event but will be conducted continuously," adding, "We will create an environment where the children, who are the future of Jeju Province, can attend school safely."
Meanwhile, the Jeju English Education City Development Council was founded recently with Kim Kyung-bo, CEO of Huon Investment, a Jeju native and parent, appointed as the inaugural chairman. The council aims to resolve various issues such as establishing a permanent communication channel between local governments and JDC, regularizing communication with the education office, promoting the construction of a community life and culture center, and collecting and improving opinions on inconvenient traffic facilities. On the 10th, it also conducted crime prevention activities for local residents.
