Geumcheon-gu to Visit 10 Elementary, Middle, and High Schools on the 27th for 'School Violence Prevention' Campaign... Experience Booths Including Writing Apology Letters, Making Friendship Rings and Keychains, Board Games, and More to Prevent School Violence
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold a school violence prevention campaign for elementary, middle, and high school students to commemorate "Apple Day."
Apple Day is a day designated by civic groups such as the National Council for School Violence Measures to promote a movement of reconciliation and forgiveness, observed annually on October 24. The 24th symbolizes "the day when two (2) reconcile (4) with each other."
The Geumcheon-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, together with the Geumcheon Youth Center, delivered promotional materials and snacks to 10 schools (Gasan Elementary, Geumnarae Elementary, Doosan Elementary, Munseong Elementary, Siheung Elementary, Munil Middle, Ancheon Middle, National Traditional Arts High School, Doksan High, Seoul Magnet High) on October 24 to enable students to independently conduct school violence prevention events.
On October 27, seven organizations including the Geumcheon-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, Geumcheon Youth Center, and Geumcheon Police Station will visit the 10 schools to operate experiential booths for school violence prevention.
At the experiential booths, activities such as ▲ writing "apology letters" to friends who have grown distant ▲ making "friendship rings and keychains" together with friends ▲ trying on police uniforms and pledging to create a safe school through the "uniform experience" ▲ and playing board games to bond with friends through the "board game experience" will be held.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "I hope this event helps local youth recognize the seriousness of various issues that can occur in daily life, such as school violence and cyberbullying, and develop the capacity to prevent them."
