Through this PPA, Naver has secured a stable supply of renewable energy produced by hydropower from Korea Water Resources Corporation. Naver plans to directly purchase 13 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually generated at Korea Water Resources Corporation’s Yongdam No. 2 Hydropower Plant and use it as power for operating its 1784 second office building. Naver expects to operate more than 50% of the 1784 building’s power with renewable energy.
Naver 1784 will become the first building in Korea to utilize various renewable energy sources such as hydropower, solar power, and geothermal energy through this collaboration. Starting with this PPA, Naver plans to continue cooperative projects with Korea Water Resources Corporation based on the 'Joint Development Agreement for RE100 Implementation and ESG Value Expansion' signed last December.
Naver aims to expand the use of renewable energy in its offices and data centers through collaboration with various partners to achieve RE100 and ‘2040 Carbon Negative’ goals. Last December, Naver signed a third-party PPA with Korea Electric Power Corporation and Enlighten to introduce renewable energy through solar power generation.
