4 Korean Tourists Dead in Vietnam... "Swept Away by Rapids"
Swept Away by Rapids During Jeep Tour
Four Korean tourists traveling in Vietnam died in an accident.
On the 24th, major foreign media reported that a vehicle carrying Korean tourists overturned in Dalat, Lam Dong Province, central Vietnam.
According to reports, a vehicle carrying four Korean tourists along with a local driver was enjoying an "off-road tour" running along a stream between valleys when it was suddenly swept away by rapidly rising floodwaters.
Three tourists could not escape the vehicle, while the driver and one male passenger escaped, but one male passenger also died during transport to the hospital.
The local driver was reported to have sustained minor injuries.
The water in the stream was about ankle-deep, but heavy rain had fallen in the area for several days, creating a risk of rapid currents.
Criticism has been raised regarding the complacent judgment of the tourist site staff.
Local authorities conducting the search recovered the bodies of the remaining three tourists about 2 km from the accident site. The deceased tourists were reported to be elderly, ranging from their late 60s to late 70s.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that two male and two female Korean tourists died, and a consul was urgently dispatched to the scene to take necessary measures.
