Seeking Cooperation among Czech Civil, Government, and Academic Sectors
KOTRA and the Aviation Safety Technology Institute announced on the 24th that they will hold a 'Drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Cooperation Export Roadshow' in Prague, Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Czech Republic, until the 26th.
This event was organized to promote the entry of Korean drones into Europe and technical cooperation between the two countries, using the Czech Republic as a base, amid growing interest in drones in Central and Eastern Europe following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
From Korea, 11 companies and institutions related to drone airframes, components (control, delivery devices, cameras, etc.), and solutions are participating. In the Czech Republic, over 100 people including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation Authority, Air Traffic Control Center, Military Technology Research Institute, Military Power Enhancement Department, UAV Association, Chamber of Commerce, Czech Technical University and University of Life Sciences, as well as specialized companies, are expected to attend.
The export roadshow consists of a complex program including ▲forum ▲company presentations ▲exhibition and export consultation ▲company site visits ▲and the signing of MOUs between the Korea Aviation Safety Technology Institute and the Czech UAV Association and Civil Aviation Authority (tentative). At the forum held on the 25th, the Aviation Safety Technology Institute (Korea), Civil Aviation Authority (Czech), Air Traffic Control Center (Czech), and UAV Association (Czech) will present trends in the drone industry and cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
As of May this year, the number of registered drone operators in the Czech Republic has increased by 41% compared to early last year, reaching 48,000. The sales volume of civilian drones is also rapidly increasing. The Czech Republic actively operates drones in defense, firefighting, police, smart agriculture, and security sectors, and the use of drones for surveillance, surveying, and mapping is expected to expand significantly across various industries.
Ambassador Hong Young-ki said in his opening remarks, "Unmanned aerial vehicles are a core area of future mobility, a key cooperation field between the two countries, and have a significant impact on application fields as well as hardware, software, and solution companies. The embassy will also provide support," adding, "We will also continue activities to attract the Busan Expo, which will be voted on in November."
