Lee Seon-gyun Suspected of Using Various Drugs at Home of Entertainment Establishment Female Employee
From Witness to Suspect... Police Summons Investigation Soon
Actor Lee Seon-gyun (48), suspected of drug use, has been formally registered as a criminal suspect and is expected to be summoned by the police soon.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Division announced on the 23rd that Lee has been formally registered as a suspect for violating the Narcotics Control Act. Lee's status was immediately changed from a preliminary investigation subject (informant) to a formal suspect under investigation.
Accordingly, the police plan to notify Lee to appear soon. The police also arrested A (29, female), an employee at a nightlife establishment in Gangnam, Seoul, on the same charges last weekend, and registered another female employee in her 20s from the same establishment without detention.
Lee is suspected of having used marijuana and other drugs multiple times at A's residence in Seoul since early this year. Last month, the police received intelligence that drugs were being distributed at a Gangnam nightlife establishment, and during the investigation, information related to Lee was also obtained.
The police are expanding the investigation, believing that Lee used not only marijuana but also various other types of drugs. A police official stated, "We secured concrete evidence related to Lee's charges and changed his status to suspect. One related person has also been arrested."
The police are also conducting preliminary investigations on five individuals, including B, a third-generation chaebol family member, and C, an aspiring singer, both of whom have prior drug use records. However, B and C were only mentioned by name during the investigation of another person involved in this case, and no specific charges have been revealed against them.
Meanwhile, Lee recently filed a complaint with the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office through his lawyer, accusing A of extortion, claiming that he was threatened and extorted of several hundred million won in connection with the drug case. The prosecution transferred this case to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency. It is known that A had about ten phone calls with Lee this year, and Lee's reported financial damage amounts to 350 million won.
