Yeoju 'Banryeomaru' Protected Dogs Adoption Starts from 23rd... 687 Dogs
Gyeonggi Province, together with animal protection organizations, is currently caring for some of the puppies rescued from a breeding facility in Hwaseong City at the province's pet complex cultural space called ‘Banryeomaru’ and other locations, and will begin adoption of these puppies starting from the 23rd.
On the 22nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that from that day forward, adoption of 687 emergency rescued puppies (as of September 2) being cared for at Banryeomaru and the Hwaseong Helper Dog Sharing Center will commence.
The adoption process will be conducted both online and offline, considering factors such as age to ensure efficient adoption.
First, for puppies under 5 years old, adoption applications will be accepted through the Gyeonggi Animal Protection Welfare Platform. There are 321 puppies at Banryeomaru (Yeoju) and the Helper Dog Sharing Center (Hwaseong).
Every Monday, 30 puppies are announced on the Gyeonggi Animal Protection Welfare Platform, and applications are accepted for four days from Monday to Thursday. However, newly born puppies and young puppies will be placed in temporary care (pre-adoption) starting from 3 months of age before proceeding with adoption.
All 366 puppies aged 5 years and older are at Banryeomaru, and from the 23rd, interested parties can visit after phone consultation without a separate announcement. Both general adoption and long-term temporary care are possible.
To prevent commercial use of the puppies, neutering surgery is required before adoption. Only one puppy can be applied for per adoption application. The breeds include Maltese, Pomeranian, Poodle, Shih Tzu, and others.
Before adoption, applicants must complete the ‘Pet Dog Adoption Pre-Education’ course online at the Animal Love Learning Center, and after applying for adoption, documents will be reviewed for up to 10 days. Then, the adoption date will be coordinated with the selected location (Banryeomaru, Helper Dog Sharing Center).
Gyeonggi Province will conduct monitoring one week, one month, and six months after adoption as part of post-adoption management.
Park Yeon-gyeong, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Companion Animal Division, said, "Finding good families for the children is a more difficult and longer journey than caring for and treating them," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that every last child can meet a family who will love and cherish them for life."
