Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) will hold the second half of the year ‘Seongdong Celebrity Lecture Series’ a total of three times on October 25, November 9, and 17 at the 3rd-floor auditorium of Seongdong-gu Office.
The ‘Seongdong Celebrity Lecture Series’ is a humanities and culture lecture program representing Seongdong-gu, featuring life wisdom, self-development, and life motivation lectures by prominent social figures. Since 2008, 138 sessions have been held, receiving high acclaim from residents.
This lecture series, prepared to present new knowledge, information, and visions to residents in the rapidly changing modern society and to satisfy their increased desire for learning, will be held three times under the theme ‘A Feast of Healthy Knowledge Awakening Myself.’
First, on October 25, Professor Kwon Ilyong of Dongguk University, Korea’s first professional profiler, will give a lecture titled ‘Types of Anger Crimes and Criminal Psychology.’ Based on his extensive experience profiling over 1,000 violent criminals such as Yoo Young-chul, Jeong Nam-gyu, and Kang Ho-soon, he will share ways to protect oneself and one’s family from crime. This is expected to be of great help to residents who are anxious due to recent successive heinous crimes.
Next, on November 9, singer Bada, who has been active for 25 years as a singer, musical actress, and as a mother and wife living in Seongdong-gu, will appear as a speaker. Under the theme ‘Bada’s Secret to Success,’ she will share her life story and secrets to success, from debuting as a first-generation girl group singer gaining much popularity to reinventing herself as a musical actress after the group disbanded. Her heartfelt stories as a famous entertainer are expected to provide new inspiration and motivation to residents’ lives.
Finally, on November 17, Professor Jeong Heewon of the Geriatrics Department at Seoul Asan Medical Center will give a lecture titled ‘Designing a Life of Aging Slowly.’ Professor Jeong recently appeared on a variety show introducing the little-known field of geriatrics and the aging process to the general public, receiving great response. In this lecture, she will explain specific practical methods to slow aging in an easy-to-understand way to support residents’ healthy aging.
