Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Programs Operated in Connection Within University Departments
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 22nd that it has selected three universities?Gyeongsang National University, Kongju National University, and Jeonju University?to operate as the 'SME Talent University,' which will integrate and manage the step-by-step educational programs of SME contract departments.
Until now, SME contract departments operated bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs separately by university and department. This made continuous education for employees in companies difficult.
In contrast, the SME Talent University will operate linked bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs within the selected universities' departments. Through this, they plan to share faculty and infrastructure.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups prioritized considerations such as new technology advanced industry fields and utilization plans for regional strategic industries when selecting universities, due to the increasing demand for talent in future promising fields from local industries.

Park Jong-chan, Director of SME Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, explained, "We expect that the selection of the SME Talent University will further strengthen the connection between regions and industries, as well as between universities and companies," adding, "We will continuously support the SME Talent University to play a central role in nurturing human resources for regional SMEs."
