Top Leadership Appoints Assemblyman Bae Jun-young as Deputy Chief of Strategic Affairs Office
The People Power Party decided on the 19th to remove all banners related to political disputes. The party also decided to disband the task force for political disputes. Assemblyman Bae Jun-young was appointed as the Strategic Planning Deputy Chairman, a position that had been vacant.
After holding a meeting in the afternoon, the People Power Party's Supreme Council resolved to appoint Assemblyman Bae as the Strategic Planning Deputy Chairman and to remove all banners related to political disputes. Park Jeong-ha, the party's chief spokesperson, said at a press briefing after the Supreme Council meeting, "The Supreme Council resolved to appoint Assemblyman Bae as the Strategic Planning Deputy Chairman. Assemblyman Bae has held various positions such as spokesperson and deputy floor leader, and is considered the right person to thoroughly understand the public sentiment in the metropolitan area and to lead reform within the party."
Assemblyman Bae also stated via text message, "As a member of the party leadership, I will unite the will of party members so that the People Power Party can make a fresh leap forward in line with the expectations of the people."
The People Power Party also decided to remove banners related to political disputes that were displayed nationwide. Chief spokesperson Park said, "The Secretary-General will issue instructions to each party branch," adding, "We have decided to disband the party-affiliated task forces that contained elements of political disputes." Going forward, banner guidelines are expected to focus on budget, livelihood, policy-related content, and listening to the public.
Kim Ki-hyun, the leader of the People Power Party, said in a public statement that day, "We will cherish the public sentiment confirmed in the Gangseo District Office by-election and adopt a thoroughly people-centered and livelihood-first attitude."
Kim introduced, "Due to the ongoing National Assembly audit yesterday, we minimized the number of attendees and had a meeting with the President. We will regularize the weekly high-level party-government meetings and strengthen communication between the party and government regarding livelihood issues." He continued, "The party, the Presidential Office, and the government will listen more seriously to economic issues and livelihood tasks, and the party will take a leading role in conveying public sentiment to ensure there is no disconnect."
He added, "We will strengthen the role of directly conveying diverse public sentiments confirmed by region, class, and generation to the President and government without filtering," and "I deeply agree with the President's emphasis that 'the people are always right,' and the party will serve the people with a more humble attitude."
This is interpreted as the party's intention to take a more proactive role in expressing opinions to the Presidential Office and others.
