Stepfather in His 50s Arrested for 13 Years of 'Grooming Sexual Abuse' of Stepdaughter
A man in his 50s was arrested for repeatedly sexually assaulting his stepdaughter over 13 years, starting from her teenage years.
On the 17th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting his stepdaughter for more than 10 years (charges include quasi-rape and quasi-sexual assault within a familial relationship under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act) and are currently investigating the case.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of sexually assaulting and forcibly molesting his stepdaughter, Ms. B, from when she was 12 years old until she became an adult in her 20s, over a period of 13 years.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A used grooming techniques to psychologically subdue Ms. B from a young age and sexually exploit her. The crimes continued even after the family emigrated to New Zealand.
Ms. B eventually realized that her stepfather’s actions were criminal and reported him to the New Zealand police. However, Mr. A fled to South Korea before the investigation could proceed, causing the inquiry to be halted.
After receiving the victim’s complaint in June, the Korean police began an investigation and arrested Mr. A in Cheonan, Chungnam Province, on the 13th of this month, detaining him two days later.
