Kim Sun-ho, Gurye County Governor, Presents Gurye-style Healing Agriculture Vision

Vision Presentation at the International Symposium on Healing Agriculture

Kim Sun-ho, the former governor of Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 12th that he presented the Gurye-type healing agriculture vision and development plans at the ‘2023 International Symposium on Climate Crisis Response and Healing Agriculture.’

Held as part of the 2023 International Agricultural Expo, this symposium was co-hosted by Jeollanam-do, Jeollanam-do International Agricultural Expo, the 1.5 Degree Celsius Forum, Suncheon National University, Honam University, Jeonnam Technopark, the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Association, Gurye-gun, and Yeongam-gun.

Over 300 participants from six countries including the United States, universities, and organizations attended to derive policy tasks to respond to agricultural environmental changes such as overcoming the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality, and to confirm the value of future agriculture.

On that day, Governor Kim Sun-ho presented under the theme ‘Gurye Healing Agriculture 1915,’ covering topics such as cases of healing agriculture promotion, the healing agriculture cluster construction project and its fostering direction, and the soil restoration project, which is the first of its kind nationwide.

Anouk Hafkamp from the Netherlands presented on ‘Core Values of Care Farms,’ and William Lombaut from Belgium spoke about ‘Care Farming in Flanders: Cutting-edge Technology.’

Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “This international symposium was a valuable opportunity to present policy visions for Korean and Gurye agriculture,” adding, “We plan to hold seminars inviting overseas speakers to revitalize healing agriculture and to promote memorandums of understanding for mutual cooperation and development in healing agriculture with leading countries such as the Netherlands and Belgium.”
