Mobile Rehabilitation Classes Also Available to Improve Social Skills and Physical Fitness of People with Developmental Disabilities
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is operating the ‘Rehabilitation Exercise Class Together’ for 10 local residents with brain lesions and physical disabilities.
The Rehabilitation Exercise Class Together is part of a community-centered rehabilitation project, providing customized rehabilitation services to people with disabilities and promoting their physical and mental health.
The Rehabilitation Exercise Class Together is held from March to May in the first half of the year and from September to November in the second half. It takes place once a week from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Health Branch, totaling 20 sessions. Activities that help with brain lesions and physical disabilities, such as ▲stretching ▲band strength exercises ▲aerobic games, are focused on.
The district expects that the Rehabilitation Exercise Class Together will improve the strength, endurance, and balance abilities of people with disabilities, prevent secondary diseases caused by disabilities, expand opportunities for social participation, and contribute to enhancing their quality of life.
Additionally, the district operates a ‘Visiting Rehabilitation Class’ for 10 people with level 3 developmental disabilities in cooperation with the Yeongdeungpo Disabled Independent Living Center. It runs twice a month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. from March to November this year. Various physical activities using equipment such as ▲Mimongi (balloon badminton) ▲gym ball bowling ▲gym ball dodgeball are supported to improve social skills and physical strength of people with developmental disabilities.
