Boseong-gun Hosts Forum Inviting U Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Committee

"South Korea Running Again in the Local Era: Vision and Strategy"

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 11th, it held the 362nd Boseong Autonomy Forum under the theme "Now is the Local Era, Korea Running Again!" by inviting Woo Dong-gi, chairman of the Local Era Committee.

This forum focused on decentralization strategies led by local governments in line with the new local era and policy directions that can achieve national balanced development proactively and efficiently.

Chairman Woo Dong-gi has devoted himself to educational development for a long time, having served as the 8th and 9th Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education and the 27th President of Daegu Catholic University. He also served as chairman of the National Balanced Development Committee and vice chairman of the Presidential Inauguration Preparation Committee of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee.

Chairman Woo focused on △the problems of concentration in the metropolitan area and local extinction, △balanced development policies of past governments, △establishment of a local-centered education system for talent cultivation and settlement, and △key policies to advance into the new local era.

In particular, he gave a special lecture on key policies for revitalizing regional culture, including designation of planning and development special zones to create high-quality new jobs, introduction of education freedom special zones and co-growth with universities, creation of urban convergence special zones, and establishment of a cultural content ecosystem, which received great responses from attendees.

Kim Cheol-woo, mayor of Boseong-gun, said, "This autonomy forum was a valuable lecture sharing the vision of the local era and regional development that utilizes local characteristics." He added, "We will do our best to actively respond to the government's balanced development policies and communicate with residents to open a successful local era."
