Supply of Two Types Including Cameras for Parking Support System Application
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expanding its presence in the automotive electronics market by establishing a partnership with Hyundai Motor Company and Kia.
On the 9th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced that it has been selected as a first-tier supplier by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, recognized for its excellent technology, quality, and stable product supply capabilities in the automotive camera sector. Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to supply two types of cameras for Hyundai Motor Company and Kia vehicles: SVM (Surround View Monitor) cameras and rear-view monitor cameras.
The SVM and rear-view monitoring cameras supplied this time are used in parking assistance systems that display the surroundings of the vehicle on video. Samsung Electro-Mechanics applied a special technique to the lens bonding area to block unnecessary light inflow, securing visibility and safety. In particular, the water-repellent performance maintenance time of this product is about 2,000 hours, approximately 1.5 times longer than previously released products, making it the industry’s highest level.

The market size for automotive camera modules is a high-growth sector expected to grow at an average annual rate of about 16%, from $4.3 billion in 2022 to $8.9 billion in 2027. Jang Deok-hyun, CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, said, "Being selected as a first-tier supplier by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia this time has proven our product competitiveness in the automotive electronics market." He added, "Based on the know-how accumulated from IT cameras, including lens design technology and manufacturing internalization, the company will provide solutions that enhance customer value through building a cutting-edge automotive camera lineup and strengthening production capabilities."
