LGU+ Reports New 5G No-Contract Plan with Detailed Data Segmentation
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that, as a follow-up measure to the "Telecommunication Market Competition Promotion Plan" announced last July, LG Uplus has reported terms of service for a newly established online-only 5th generation mobile communication (5G) plan. This plan allows users to prepay for a selected amount of data (1 to 24GB) on a monthly basis (30-day cycle) and use it as much as they want.
The newly introduced plan consists of 16 types of no-contract online plans that can be easily subscribed to and changed via a dedicated app (Nugget), starting at a minimum of 30,000 KRW.
The plans are structured with tight intervals of 1 to 5GB between each tier, enabling users to select a plan that closely matches their actual monthly usage. If data remains unused, users can change their plan and receive a refund for the remaining balance. The new plans are available for subscription starting today.
LG Uplus plans to support users in easily predicting their monthly data usage by providing notifications not only when data usage reaches 50%, 80%, and 100% of the basic allowance but also at 10 and 20 days after payment. Through this, users can change or cancel their plans mid-cycle if they anticipate data shortage or surplus. During the process of switching plans, any remaining prepaid fees will be refunded, minimizing unused leftover data.
For young users aged 19 to 29, up to an additional 11GB of data will be provided depending on the subscribed plan. This will be implemented starting November 1.
Meanwhile, LG Uplus plans to run a promotion for users who subscribe to the new plans between the launch date and December 31 of this year, offering an additional 5GB of data every month for 12 months, as well as five Time Booster coupons that allow data usage without deduction for one hour each.
