Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, 7.1% Increase in 2024 Living Wage Compared to Previous Year
Hourly Wage Set at 11,010 Won
Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Dae-jung) announced on the 4th that the 2024 living wage has been set at 11,010 KRW per hour, a 7.1% increase compared to the previous year (10,280 KRW).
The living wage is different from the minimum wage in that it is set to enable workers to support their families and maintain a practical standard of living in various fields such as education and culture. The Jeonnam Office of Education introduced the living wage system through the enactment of the Living Wage Ordinance in May 2020.
The 2024 living wage was calculated by comprehensively considering factors such as the expected consumer price inflation rate, labor cost increase rate, minimum wage increase rate, and financial status.
This amount is 11.7% higher than the 2024 government minimum wage of 9,860 KRW per hour, and approximately 980 workers affiliated with the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education will benefit from the living wage.
