The team sprint cycling event involves two teams starting simultaneously from opposite sides of the track, racing three laps while their times are measured. A distinctive feature is that the lead rider leaves the track after each lap. In other words, all three riders compete together in the first lap, two riders in the second lap, and only one rider completes the final lap.
