‘Autonomous Public High School’ and ‘Boarding Middle School’ to Be Established in Sasang-gu, Busan
Busan City, Busan Office of Education, and Sasang-gu Sign Agreement
Busan City will sign a “Business Agreement for the Establishment and Operation of Autonomous Public High School 2.0 and Boarding Middle School” with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and Sasang District Office at 11 a.m. on the 26th in the Sasang District Office Citizen Hall.
At the signing ceremony, Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Jo Byung-gil, Mayor of Sasang District, will attend as representatives of the agreement institutions and directly sign the business agreement.
Additionally, National Assembly member Jang Je-won will attend to show support and provide assistance for the establishment of excellent middle and high schools in Sasang District.
This agreement aims to contribute to the development of education in Busan by establishing excellent middle and high schools in the western Busan area to eliminate the east-west education gap and enhance the competitiveness of local public education.
At the Local Era Declaration Ceremony held on September 14, the basic direction of the Education Free Zone was announced, where local governments, education offices, universities, and companies cooperate to comprehensively support local public education development, nurturing of local talented individuals, and settlement.
Accordingly, this agreement was prepared as a preemptive measure to enhance the competitiveness of public education by mutually cooperating to establish excellent autonomous public high schools and boarding dormitories.
Starting with this agreement, the city plans to promote the Education Free Zone in cooperation with various local institutions such as the education office, universities, public institutions, and companies.
Once the agreement is signed, ▲ Busan City will provide administrative support such as urban planning changes for school establishment ▲ Sasang District will provide land for school establishment ▲ Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will cooperate in establishing autonomous public high schools and boarding middle schools.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “One of the reasons for the concentration in the metropolitan area is that local talents enter metropolitan universities and then find jobs and settle in the metropolitan area, accelerating the outflow of talents from local areas and facing the crisis of disappearance.”
