Gyeonggi Agricultural and Marine Products Promotion Agency Inspects 20 G-Mark Certified Sites... Safety 'Suitable'
The Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Marine Products Promotion Agency conducted on-site inspections of 20 G-Mark certified businesses producing Chuseok ritual items and seafood, all of which received a 'suitable' rating.
The inspections were carried out from the 1st to the 15th of this month and included safety tests, origin labeling checks, and special investigations covering food storage, production, packaging, and distribution.
Safety tests were conducted on 15 items of fruits and ritual goods harvested and produced in season, and 26 items of raw and processed seafood. Agricultural products were tested for 463 types of pesticide residues, while seafood was tested for radioactive substances such as iodine and cesium.

Choi Chang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Marine Products Promotion Agency, stated, "In response to Japan's Fukushima contaminated water discharge, we plan to strengthen seafood safety inspections by increasing the frequency from once a year to once per quarter." He added, "We will do our best to provide consumers with safer and more trustworthy food even during the holidays."
