Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is holding a ‘Short-form Video Contest’ to revitalize the commercial district of Bangbae-dong Cafe Alley, which holds the memories and nostalgia of the 50s and 60s generation.
This contest, under the theme ‘Share the Wonderful Daily Life of Bangbae Cafe Alley,’ invites participants to create short-form content (videos under 1 minute) without restrictions on subject or genre, such as ▲dance challenges ▲a day in the life of a cafe owner in the alley.
To participate, submit a vertical short-form video between 15 and 60 seconds on your SNS (Instagram/YouTube) with the mandatory hashtags (#SeochoGuOffice #SeochoGu #BangbaeCafeAlley #ShortForm #ShortFormContest), then apply by submitting the application form through the link announced on the Seocho-gu website banner.
The awards include 1 Grand Prize winner (team) receiving 2 million KRW, 2 Excellence Awards (teams) each receiving 1 million KRW, 3 Merit Awards (teams) each receiving 500,000 KRW, and 10 Honorable Mentions (teams) each receiving 300,000 KRW, totaling 13.5 million KRW in prize money.
Afterward, the district will select the final 16 teams through a comprehensive expert review based on artistic quality, originality, and topicality of the submitted works. The results will be announced on the official Seocho-gu website at the end of October, and winners will be notified individually.
Additionally, to promote consumption within the Bangbae Cafe Alley commercial district, 100 more teams will be selected to receive gift certificates worth 50,000 KRW usable at over 80 restaurants and cafes in Bangbae Cafe Alley.
The winning entries will be used to produce promotional videos for Bangbae Cafe Alley on Seocho-gu’s official YouTube and Instagram channels. The district expects to spread public awareness of Bangbae Cafe Alley and create a revitalized commercial atmosphere through citizens’ ideas.
Meanwhile, Bangbae Cafe Alley, selected in March for the ‘Seoul City Local Commercial District Revitalization Support Project,’ is implementing various initiatives to regain its former glory, including ▲a regular concert ‘Bangbae-dong Romantic Presso’ created by local young artists and merchants, ▲a ‘Video Contest’ featuring daily vlogs and mukbangs with celebrities throughout the alley, and ▲a ‘Discount Coupon Promotion’ tailored to the high-price era to stimulate consumption.
