[Asian Games] Men's and Women's Table Tennis Team Events Both Win Opening Matches
The South Korean men's and women's table tennis teams both secured victories in their first matches of the team event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The women's team achieved a 3-0 sweep against Pakistan in the first group stage match of Group D, held on the 22nd at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.
South Korea's Jeon Ji-hee (world ranking 33), Shin Yu-bin (9), and Seo Hyo-won (60) played in order, each easily defeating their opponents 3-0.

The women's team will play their second match against Thailand at 5 PM Korea Standard Time. Thailand is a challenging opponent. Shin Yu-bin lost to Thailand's Orawan Paranang (67th) in the round of 16 singles match at the Pyeongchang Asian Championships held earlier this month. There is also Sutthasini Sawettabut, ranked 39th in the world.
The women's team aims to reach the finals for the first time in 33 years since winning the silver medal at the 1990 Beijing Games.
The men's team also won 3-0 against Macau in the first group stage match of Group C. Lim Jong-hoon (17th), Jang Woo-jin (13th), and Park Kang-hyun (176th) played in order, each easily winning 3-0 against their opponents.

The men's team will face Thailand in their second match at 7 PM the same day. The men's team is aiming for the gold medal for the first time in 33 years. In the previous seven tournaments, they all won silver medals after losing to the world's strongest team, China, in the finals.
